What we collect

Email address, and your name if you give it, when you subscribe or buy.

Payment details are collected and processed by Razorpay, not by us. We receive the payment status, amount, plan, a Razorpay reference, and the email and phone number you enter at checkout.

Email engagement: whether an issue was delivered, opened or a link clicked, collected by our email platform beehiiv.

Website analytics: pages visited, approximate location from IP, device and browser type, via beehiiv's analytics and standard cookies.

Why we use it

To deliver the newsletter you subscribed to and manage your paid access.

To take payment, issue refunds and keep accounting records required by Indian law.

Who we share it with

Only service providers who need it to run the newsletter: beehiiv (email delivery and website, servers in the United States), Razorpay (payments, India), and our hosting provider for the small service that links payments to subscriptions. Each acts on our instructions. We do not sell personal data. Sponsors never receive subscriber lists; they only see aggregate numbers.

Cookies

The website uses cookies and similar technologies for login, basic analytics and to remember your preferences. You can block cookies in your browser; some features may stop working.

How long we keep it

Subscriber data is kept while you are subscribed and for up to 24 months after you unsubscribe, so we can honour opt-outs and handle disputes. Payment records are kept for 8 years as required by Indian tax law.

Your rights

Access and correction: ask what we hold about you and have it corrected.

Erasure: ask us to delete your data, subject to records we must keep by law.

Withdraw consent: unsubscribe from any email with one click, or email us.

Grievance: write to the contact below. We acknowledge within 7 days and resolve within 30. If unresolved, you may approach the Data Protection Board of India.

Children

The newsletter is for business readers aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

Security

Data is stored with providers that use encryption in transit and at rest. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach affects you, we will inform you and the regulator as required.

Changes

We update this policy when our practices change and note the date above. Material changes will be announced in the newsletter.
